Music Video

Music Video Project

During the first week of December, I had to make a holiday music video and it was to help me experience in editing, recording and publishing. During that time I had to work in a group and picked the holiday song, wrote the scrip, made a shot list, storyboarded, filmed, edited and finally published it. Here's what we did and how it went to get to our final product.

Steps

1- In our first step we picked our group and in our group there was me, Brianna Scott, Angelo Douglas, Benjamin Duverna, and Daniel Calderin. Throughout the recording we did need some extra characters and we had Marie Guillaume, Sebastian Silva, and Antony Suarez. Behind the scenes as our camera woman was Gissela Pinto. This was our first step and these were the people picked to be and help create out video.

2- For our second step we picked our song, we looked into holidays songs that we could use and that were original and we ended up picking "12 Days of Christmas" by Relient K. We talked about the lyrics and how we would be able to make a music video out of the song.

3- Third step we needed to write our scrip, how many shots we needed, their duration, the angles, and everything that would happen during that shot. We overall came up with 12 shots and in every shot from 1 through 6 we had a number of characters that corresponded to each day and then from shot 7 through 11 we decreased the amount of characters one by one and on the last shot we had 6 characters again.

4- The fourth step we storyboard, we got a storyboard template and sketch how every shot we had was going to look like and was going to happen in these shots. Creating the template wasn't something hard to do, we just sketched it, put which scene, which shot, and the size of the shot. This is how we did and finalized our storyboard.

5- The fifth thing that we had to do was plan our filming time, we planned when we were going to film which were the two days following the day we created our story board, where we were going to film which was the hallway, the last thing we had to plan was how we were going to record. We planned to use our phone's camera and a camera woman, Gissela. After that we were almost ready to start filming.

6- When we thought we were going to film we realized that we forgot to make a choreography, so while trying to film each shot to help us stay on schedule I came up with some moves and we all just went along with it.

7- We started filming, we all had to do some of the shots over and over again but overall it was fun and a great experience. We filmed for 2 days straight and on the third day we went over all our shots and re filmed the ones that we were missing or had to do over.

8- After we finished filming all of our shots and made sure they were all good, we started editing and putting them together in the order that we wanted. For our editing we used "Wevideo" which is an easy app to use and it very helpful even though we came across a few issues with it. We muted the sounds from the original video, we cut and added to make sure they were all in the correct position, we added the sound that we did want, added transitions to make sure they were all smooth, made an opening and a closing giving credits to everyone included in the video and the song artist and finally we made some final touches and saved our video.

9- After we had our video saved we needed to upload it to "YouTube" in order to submit it as our final project product. We eventually created a YouTube channel to be able to upload it to, we didn't have a name to put so we named it school since after all the YouTube channel was created for school purposes. We upload the music video or the final product added a few details to be able to have it uploaded and just like that it was uploaded.

10- After uploading the video to YouTube we had to copy the URL and submit it as the final product, to be able to do that our music video needed to be public so it was. Just like that we all copied the URL of the video and submitted it. We were done with the project and that was the final step.
