My Movie

This new quarter, I will begin to work toward my portfolio project with my group members and get ready for the final project that comes with being in this class.

My group

In this project, I've had to pick my group members since we will be working in groups, and to pick my group members I came up with 10 questions to interview some of my classmates.

* What is your favorite movie Genre?
* What makes you really mad?
* What motivates you to do you work?
* How is your attendance?
* Are you up to work after school?
* Would you stay up to complete an assignment?
* Are you a team leader or a player?
* Do you like working by yourself or in groups?
* Are you reliable?
* Are you good with cooperating?

After interviewing 5 of my classmates, based on the answers from the questions I selected 3 members to be part of my group. Therefore the members that will be in my group are Brianna Scott, Gissela Pinto, and David Stephens.

The beginning

Now that I have my group members I can start thinking and talking about the project and all that will come to complete it. The movie that I will be making with my group is a romantic comedy about 2 childhood bestfriends who grows in love until one has to move away, ending the relationship, later on one moves back and we wait and see how it plays out.

Since our movie will be a romantic-comedy we did a lot of research about that specific genre like their basic genre conventions, their setting and location of other films in that same genre, when and where they are shot, their intended audience, habits, how they are normally represented, and stereotype. There's very much more research to be done in this genre and so far I've learned a lot about it.

Romantic comedy contains light heated humor and the idea that true love can overcome any obstacle. It usually happens with two characters finding love in an unusual place who goes through a difficult obstacle to gain each others trust and love by a comical side plot.

The settings of romantic-comedies always differ based on the plot or the story that is being transferred. It also changes based on who the intended audience of the film is, they might be portraying the audience to be all kind of different people which is who will determine the setting or location. Here's some of the audiences and where their settings/location might be.
  • Woman and Girls: London, Paris, and New York. In these locations is where most romantic-comedies are filmed since these places are known for the city of love or the place where love blooms.

  • Teens: Schools, Malls, and Parties. Films are filmed in these locations to help the audience relate to the characters as to where their story might develop.

  •

Romantic comedies have their on intended audiences such as, woman and girls, teens, and mature audience here's why.
Woman and Girls
  • Gets in touch with a woman's emotions.
  • Relates to the story as they see their on image or feelings in the film.
  • Woman enjoys seeing or having the feeling of a happy family/marriage/relationship which is always found in romantic-comedies.
Teens
  • Storyline targets younger generations of teenagers 12-20 years old.
  • Actress and Actors are usually young which makes the audience feels like they can relate to the film.
  • Made as an American teenagers life story or love life.
Mature Audiences
  • Contains bad languages, sexual references, and sex scenes for mature audiences.
  • Complex story line that is more relatable to middle class woman.
  • Actors similar in age making audience a target.

In every movie/film they is an usual pattern which always happen and for romantic comedies it goes like this:
  • They meet accidentally
  • Fall in love
  • Overcome obstacles that keeps them apart
  • Defy the odds
  • Live Happily ever after

During this week and the last week, I've done more research about romantic-comedies and analyzed, studied about it. My researches were successful and these are the new things I've learned about romantic-comedies.
